Massey Ferguson A.42.13: External Hydraulic Valve 4 Issue

Indicates a connection problem, electrical fault, or mechanical failure on one of the tractor's external hydraulic remote valves. The system is detecting an anomaly in how the valve is operating, receiving voltage, or maintaining pressure.

   Check hydraulic fluid level and condition (look for dark, burnt, or milky appearance indicating contamination)

   Test system pressure with a hydraulic gauge to pinpoint whether the issue is a pump, valve, or restriction

   Inspect external hydraulic valves, hoses, couplers, seals, and cylinders for external leaks

   Check for a partially blocked hydraulic filter restricting flow

   Observe lift cover lever actions and manually move the pump control valve lever to check for a stuck valve

   Address Fluid and Filters

   If the fluid is contaminated, flush the system and replace it with fresh UTTO (Universal Tractor Transmission Oil, like 10W40). Change the hydraulic filters.

   Fix Leaks

   Repair any external hydraulic leaks immediately by replacing worn hoses, seals, or couplers.

   Unstick or Overhaul the Valve

   If the control valve is stuck, attempt to release it by picking up and dropping the lift arms repeatedly when the lift control levers are in the down position. If this fails, or if the valve chamber valves are not sealing (causing shuddering), remove the pump and control valve to clean, overhaul, or replace them.

   Replace the Pump

   If performance does not improve after servicing the valves and changing the fluid/filters, the hydraulic pump may be worn and require replacement.
