A.4X.11

Massey Ferguson A.4X.11 – EHR (Electro-Hydraulic Remote) Control Module or Hydraulic Valve Module: External Hydraulic Valve 4 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction in the electro-hydraulic spool valve (SCV 4) that controls the rear remotes or front loader, typically caused by a connection problem, an open circuit, a solenoid high/low amp draw, or a failure of the spool position sensor preventing the valve from calibrating or returning to neutral.

Check the cause

  1. Perform a visual LED inspection on the electronic valve block for SCV 4 (solid red indicates power, green indicates input, flashing confirms an active fault).

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connector at Valve 4 for corrosion, moisture, or backed-out pins (Code 0A.41.FF specifically denotes a connection problem).

  3. Use a multimeter to test the solenoid for an open circuit or a short to ground (the module monitors for high or low amp draw).

  4. Check for mechanical binding in the external linkage or spool valve cable that may prevent the spool from returning to the neutral position.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery isolator to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the rear remote valve stack to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

  3. Address Wiring/Cables

If the diagnostic checks revealed a wiring fault, repair the harness. If the tractor uses a mechanical spool valve cable that is stretched or binding, replace the cable.

  4. Replace Detents (If Applicable)

On some models (like the 7600 series), worn detents can cause the valve to fail to return to neutral. These can sometimes be modified or replaced independently of the whole valve.

  5. Replace the Complete Valve Assembly

If the internal spool position sensor or the integrated solenoid has failed, the valve cannot be repaired internally. You must remove the hydraulic lines to SCV 4, unbolt the valve slice from the manifold stack, and install a new complete electro-hydraulic valve assembly.

  6. Bleed and Calibrate

Reconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical connectors. Top off the hydraulic fluid. Turn the key on and use the tractor's terminal/diagnostic interface to clear the DTCs and perform an EHR valve calibration so the module can learn the new valve's neutral set point.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • Complete Electro-Hydraulic Valve Assembly (SCV)

OEM part numbers vary heavily by exact tractor model and valve position; consult the dealer with the tractor's VIN.

  • Spool Valve Cable

    3787587M96

Fits 6600, 6700, 7600, and 7700 series if the issue is mechanical binding of the control cable.

  • Spool Valve Detent Kit

Generic OEM replacement (Available for 7600 series to fix neutral-return issues without replacing the whole valve).
