Check the cause

  1. Verify the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) level and condition. If the fluid is dark, smells burnt, or looks milky (water contamination), it must be changed.

  2. Check the hydraulic and transmission filters for blockages.

  3. Inspect the #4 external valve for physical damage, external leaks, and ensure all hydraulic couplers are clean and undamaged.

  4. Check the wiring harness and electrical connectors going to the CAN actuator on Valve 4 for connection problems.

  5. Use a hydraulic gauge to test the system pressure at the remote couplers to determine if the issue is isolated to the #4 valve or if it is a broader pump/relief valve issue.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve System Pressure

Ensure the tractor is off and all hydraulic pressure is relieved from the system before beginning work.

  2. Attempt Resealing (If Leaking)

If the valve is suffering from internal/external leaks rather than total electronic failure, use a specialized Spool Valve Replacement/Reseal Kit (such as K-Line tool AT20010) to reseal the Bosch SB23 remote valve without replacing the entire unit.

  3. Valve Replacement

If the CAN actuator or internal spool is beyond repair: Disconnect the electrical harness from the #4 valve actuator. Unbolt the hydraulic lines and remove the faulty valve section from the distributor block. Install the new OEM valve section, ensuring all O-rings and mating surfaces are clean. Reconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical harness.

  4. Calibration

Follow the manufacturer's instructions to calibrate the new valve via the tractor's terminal/diagnostic tool so the ECU recognizes the new actuator's limits.

  5. Test

Top off the hydraulic fluid and test the remote valve for smooth operation and zero leaks.
