Massey Ferguson A.4X.24 – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote) Control Module or Armrest Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 4 Issue
Issue description
A malfunction in the 4th external hydraulic remote (spool valve) circuit, indicating a spool position error, a calibration failure, or an electrical short/open circuit at the valve's solenoid.

Check the cause
Inspect the LED indicator on the 4th electronic valve block at the rear of the tractor (solid red = power, green = moving, flashing = active fault)
Ensure the external linkage and the valve spool are physically returning to the center (neutral) position
Check the wiring harness connecting the armrest/cab controls to the rear hydraulic valve for continuity, high/low amp draw, or open circuits at the solenoid
Access the tractor's internal diagnostic screen to check for secondary DC or TC error codes to isolate the issue to the switch, solenoid, or calibration
Repair steps
Clear and Recalibrate
Attempt to clear the DTCs using a compatible diagnostic tool or the tractor's onboard interface. If the code was triggered by a temporary voltage drop, recalibrating the valve spool may resolve the issue.
Inspect and Replace Detents
If the valve is mechanically sticking and failing to center, the spool valve detents may be worn. On models like the 7600 series, the detents can be modified and replaced individually without replacing the entire valve.
Replace the Electro-Hydraulic Valve
If the electrical solenoid has failed internally or the valve body is damaged, the entire valve assembly must be replaced. Ensure system pressure is relieved first, disconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical harness, unbolt the faulty 4th remote valve from the hydraulic stack, and install the new unit.
Final Calibration
After installing a new valve, use the Massey Ferguson diagnostic interface to calibrate the new spool valve to the EHR system so it recognizes the neutral set point.
