Check the cause

  1. Use a compatible diagnostic tool to retrieve the exact code and verify if it is active or stored

  2. Locate the rear remote valve stack at the back of the tractor and identify Valve 4. Inspect for physical damage, severe fluid leaks, or debris interfering with the spool

  3. Disconnect the wiring harness to the Valve 4 solenoid and check for bent pins, corrosion, or moisture inside the connector

  4. Check the wiring harness leading to the valve for chafing, breaks, or shorts to ground

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, relieve all hydraulic pressure by cycling the remote levers/buttons, and disconnect the negative battery cable.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the area around the external hydraulic valve stack to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

  3. Address Wiring (If Applicable)

If the diagnostic checks revealed a corroded connector, clean the pins with contact cleaner and apply dielectric grease. Reconnect and test.

  4. Replace the Valve/Solenoid

If the wiring is intact, the valve solenoid or the valve body itself has failed. Disconnect the hydraulic lines attached to Valve 4 (cap them to prevent fluid loss). Remove the mounting bolts securing Valve 4 to the valve stack/lift cover. Install the new external hydraulic valve/solenoid assembly, ensuring all O-rings are properly seated. Torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications and reconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical harness.

  5. Clear Codes and Test

Reconnect the battery. Top off the hydraulic fluid if any was lost. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the DTCs, then start the tractor and test the 4th remote for proper operation and leak-free performance.
