Check the cause

  1. Inspect hydraulic oil levels and check for contamination or a restricted hydraulic filter

  2. Check the external hydraulic valve 5 for physical damage, sticking spools, or external leaks

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and solenoid connections at Valve 5 for chafing, breaks, or corrosion

  4. Test the hydraulic pressure and flow at the remote couplers using a pressure gauge to rule out a failing main pump or a faulty relief valve

  5. Ensure the hydraulic couplers are not blocked or faulty

Repair steps

  1. Make the Machine Safe

Lower all implements to the ground, turn off the engine, and relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system before beginning work.

  2. Disconnect Lines

Disconnect the electrical harness connected to the Valve 5 solenoid.

  3. Remove Hoses

Disconnect the hydraulic supply and outlet hoses from the valve block. Mark them to ensure correct reinstallation.

  4. Dismount the Valve

Remove the locknuts or mounting bolts securing the spool valve assembly to the hydraulic block.

  5. Repair or Replace

Install a completely new hydraulic spool valve assembly, or rebuild the valve using an OEM spool valve repair kit (replacing internal O-rings and seals). Note: Complex electronic valves like the Bosch SB23 may require sending out to a specialist for a rebuild if internal solenoids/circuitry have failed.

  6. Reassembly

Mount the new or repaired valve, reconnect the hydraulic hoses, and plug in the electrical connector.

  7. Final Steps

Top off the hydraulic fluid, clear the DTC using a compatible diagnostic tool, and test the remote valve for proper operation and leaks.

Parts you might need

(4)
  • Electronic Auxiliary Spool Valve (Bosch Rexroth SB23)

Exact OEM part number varies heavily by specific tractor chassis.

  • Spool Valve Repair Kit

    3176423M91

Fitment varies by model; used to restore hydraulic functionality to leaking or sticking valves.

  • Hydraulic Filter

    PT685MPG

Generic replacement. Verify exact fitment for the specific tractor model.

  • Hydraulic Filter

    HF28808

Fleetguard generic replacement. Verify exact fitment for the specific tractor model.
