   Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at External Valve 5 for corrosion, bent pins, or wire chafing

   Ensure the tractor's hydraulic reservoir is at the proper level and the fluid is not contaminated

   Inspect the spool valve block for visible physical damage, leaking O-rings, or a stuck spool

   Perform a swap test by moving the electrical solenoid connection from Valve 5 to another valve (like Valve 4) to see if the fault code follows the solenoid/wiring or stays with the mechanical valve

   Relieve Pressure

   Lower all hydraulic implements to the ground. Turn off the engine and cycle the hydraulic levers/joysticks to relieve all residual hydraulic pressure in the system.

   Access the Valve Block

   Locate the external hydraulic valve stack (typically mounted at the rear of the tractor above the rear axle/lift cover).

   Disconnect Lines

   Disconnect the electrical harness connector from Valve 5. Mark and disconnect the hydraulic hoses attached to the valve. Have a bucket ready to catch residual hydraulic fluid.

   Remove the Valve

   Unbolt the tie-rods or mounting bolts holding Valve 5 to the valve stack or diverter plate.

   Rebuild or Replace

   If rebuilding: Disassemble the spool valve on a clean workbench. Replace all internal O-rings and seals using an OEM repair kit. If replacing: Install the new spool valve assembly into the stack.

   Reassembly

   Bolt the valve back into place, ensuring the mating O-rings between the valve slices are seated correctly. Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical harness.

   Test

   Top off the hydraulic fluid. Start the tractor, actuate Valve 5 to bleed air from the system, and check for leaks and code clearance.
