A.52.26

Massey Ferguson A.52.26: External Hydraulic Valve 5 Issue

Issue description

Indicates a fault, connection problem, or operational failure specifically isolated to the 5th external hydraulic remote/spool valve. When this valve fails, the remote hydraulics may become slow, weak, or completely dead, preventing the operation of implements like tipping trailers, loaders, or mowers.

Check the cause

  1. Check Hydraulic Fluid: Inspect the UTTO (Universal Tractor Transmission Oil) for contamination (dirty oil) or low levels, which can cause weak or slow hydraulics.

  2. Inspect Filters: Check the hydraulic oil filter and transmission filter. Blocked filters restrict oil flow and cause dead or slow responses.

  3. Inspect Couplers and Hoses: Check the hydraulic couplers for damage or blockages, and inspect hoses for wear or leaks.

  4. Check Valve Connections: Inspect the electrical connections and pilot pressure controls on Valve 5 for connection problems.

  5. Check for Sticking: Verify if the spool valve itself is physically sticky or if there is a relief valve fault.

Repair steps

  1. Fluid and Filter Service

If the hydraulic fluid is contaminated, flush the fluid and replace the hydraulic filter (recommended every 300–500 hours).

  2. Fix Leaks and Couplers

Replace any damaged female/male hydraulic couplers or leaking hoses connected to the 5th remote valve.

  3. Valve Repair/Replacement

If the issue is isolated to the valve itself, remove the faulty spool valve slice. You can either rebuild it using an OEM repair kit or replace the entire electric spool slice.

  4. Programming

If replacing an electric spool slice, the new unit must be programmed to the tractor after physical installation.

  5. Clear Codes

Use a compatible diagnostic tool or interface device to clear the 0A.52.26 DTC from the system and test the implement under load.
