A.52.27

Massey Ferguson A.52.27 – Rear Chassis Module (SCC) or Tractor Control Unit (TCU): External Hydraulic Valve 5 Issue

Issue description

Indicates an electrical or functional issue with External Hydraulic Valve 5 (the 5th rear remote spool valve), usually an electrical fault related to the valve's solenoid such as an open circuit, short circuit to earth, short circuit between cables, or current level/fast decay error.

Check the cause

  1. Check hydraulic fluid (UTTO) level and condition. Look for dark, burnt-smelling, or milky fluid indicating water contamination.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connector leading to the 5th remote valve at the rear of the tractor for chafed wires, corrosion, or loose pins.

  3. Inspect the hydraulic filter for clogs, as contamination can restrict oil flow and cause system aeration or pressure drops.

  4. Perform a pressure test using a hydraulic gauge on the quick couplers. Verify pressure is within the normal operating range (2200 to 3600 psi).

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements to the ground, and turn off the engine. Move the hydraulic control levers back and forth to relieve any residual pressure in the system.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the rear remote valve stack to prevent dirt and debris from entering the hydraulic system during disassembly.

  3. Disconnect Electricals

Unplug the wiring harness connector from the Solenoid Valve 5.

  4. Remove the Valve/Solenoid

Unbolt the faulty solenoid coil or the entire spool valve section from the hydraulic valve bank.

  5. Inspect Seals

Check the mating surfaces on the valve bank. Remove the old O-rings and ensure no rubber residue is left behind.

  6. Install the New Part

Fit the new solenoid or valve assembly using fresh O-rings. Torque the mounting bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.

  7. Reconnect and Refill

Reconnect the electrical harness. Check the hydraulic fluid level and top up with UTTO fluid if any was lost during the repair.

  8. Test

Start the tractor, allow the hydraulic fluid to warm up, and cycle the 5th remote valve. Check for external leaks and verify that the fault code has cleared (a diagnostic tool may be required to clear the DTC from the module).
