Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector plugging into External Hydraulic Valve 5 for corrosion, bent pins, or frayed wires

  2. Verify that the tractor's hydraulic fluid is at the correct level and free of heavy contamination that could stick a spool valve

  3. Inspect the #5 spool valve on the rear remote stack for physical damage, severe fluid leaks, or a broken flow control screw

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Turn off the tractor and actuate the hydraulic levers/controls to relieve all residual hydraulic pressure in the system before servicing.

  2. Disconnect Wiring

Locate External Hydraulic Valve 5 on the rear auxiliary valve stack. Disconnect its electrical connector. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner; if the connector was just loose or dirty, reconnecting it may clear the code.

  3. Remove the Valve

If the valve is mechanically faulty or the solenoid has failed, unbolt the hydraulic lines connected to the #5 valve.

  4. Unbolt from Stack

Remove the mounting bolts holding the spool valve to the hydraulic block/stack.

  5. Replace or Rebuild

Install a new spool valve assembly, or if applicable, rebuild the current valve using an OEM repair kit (replacing internal O-rings and seals).

  6. Reassembly

Bolt the new valve into the stack, reconnect the hydraulic lines, and plug in the electrical connector.

  7. Test

Top off the hydraulic fluid, start the tractor, and test the #5 remote to ensure proper operation and that the A.53.2A code has cleared.
