Massey Ferguson A.5X.26 – Armrest Controller (Armrest Autotronic 5) or Tractor Management ECU: External Hydraulic Valve 5 Issue
Issue description
Malfunction in the circuit, position sensor line, or mechanical operation of the 5th external hydraulic remote valve. The tractor's safety protocol will automatically block or lock the affected valve to prevent erratic hydraulic operation.

Check the cause
Check the dashboard for warning lights (amber for caution, red for critical) and listen for a beep sound, which typically accompanies a valve position sensor line malfunction.
Attempt a system reset: Stop the tractor, turn off the engine, and restart it to see if the system reactivates the valve.
Inspect the electrical connections at External Hydraulic Valve 5 (located at the rear hydraulic block) for connection problems or short circuits to 0V or 12V.
Attempt to clear the error code from the control unit dashboard using a compatible diagnostic tool to see if it is a hard fault or an intermittent glitch.
Repair steps
Power down the tractor and relieve any residual hydraulic pressure from the system.
Ensure the system is depressurized before beginning work.
Locate External Hydraulic Valve 5 at the rear remote valve stack.
Identify the correct valve section for troubleshooting.
Disconnect the wiring harness to the valve actuator and position sensor.
Inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or damage.
Repair the harness if the wiring is damaged.
If the wiring is intact, the internal position sensor or the valve actuator itself has failed.
Unbolt the faulty External Hydraulic Valve section from the hydraulic block.
Remove the failed component to prepare for replacement.
Install the replacement valve assembly and torque the hydraulic unions to OEM specifications.
Ensure all connections are properly tightened.
Reconnect the electrical harness.
Ensure a secure connection to the new valve assembly.
Start the tractor, clear the error code from the dashboard/ECU, and test the remote for proper operation.
Verify the repair was successful and the valve functions normally.
