Check the cause

  1. Check UTTO hydraulic fluid for dirt or contamination and inspect hydraulic/transmission filters for blockages.

  2. Inspect quick couplers on Valve 5 for damage, blockages, or leaks, and check connected hydraulic hoses for wear.

  3. Test valve operation to determine if only Valve 5 is dead/sticking (isolating the issue to the valve or electrical connection) or if the entire system is weak (pointing to a pump or main relief valve).

  4. Check the wiring harness and electrical connector plugging into External Valve 5 for corrosion, bent pins, or broken wires.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Ensure the tractor is turned off, the implement is lowered to the ground, and all hydraulic pressure is relieved from the system by cycling the remote levers/buttons.

  2. Drain/Catch Fluid

Place a large catch pan beneath the rear remote valve block, as removing the valve will result in fluid loss.

  3. Disconnect Lines

Disconnect the hydraulic hoses and the electrical connector from External Hydraulic Valve 5.

  4. Remove the Valve

Unbolt the Valve 5 spool section from the hydraulic remote valve stack.

  5. Rebuild or Replace

Depending on the severity of the wear, either install a completely new spool valve section or rebuild the existing valve using an OEM spool valve repair kit (replacing internal O-rings and seals).

  6. Reinstall

Bolt the new or rebuilt valve back into the stack. Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical harness.

  7. Service Fluids

Replace the hydraulic filter and top off the system with clean UTTO hydraulic fluid (e.g., 10W40 UTTO).

  8. Test

Start the tractor, allow the fluid to warm up, and test Valve 5 with an implement to ensure there are no leaks and that the fault code clears.

Parts you might need

(5)
  • Spool Valve Repair Kit

    3176423M91

Fitment varies by exact model; used to rebuild leaking spool valves

  • External Hydraulic Valve / Spool Valve

Generic part name; exact OEM part number depends heavily on the specific tractor series and whether it is a manual or electro-hydraulic valve block

  • Hydraulic Filter

    Replace during valve service

  • Hydraulic Mounting O-Rings

    195561M1

Example O-ring for hydraulic pipe to lift cover/valve mounting

  • UTTO Hydraulic Fluid

    Generic consumable
