A.60.12

Massey Ferguson A.60.12 – Hydraulic Valve Control Module / Armrest Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction or fault within the circuit of the 6th external hydraulic control spool valve, which is responsible for managing pressurized hydraulic fluid flow to external implements and attachments.

Check the cause

  1. Verify the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) level and condition, and check the hydraulic filter for contamination (a 70% contaminated filter severely reduces oil flow).

  2. Inspect the external control valve 6, hoses, quick couplers, and seals for physical damage or active leaks.

  3. Check if the control valve spool is physically stuck (attempt to temporarily release it by manually moving the control lever back and forth).

  4. Test the hydraulic system pressure to ensure it is within normal operating range (below 2200 psi causes lack of power; above 3600 psi causes overheating and seal damage).

  5. Check for system aeration (air in the lines), which causes vibrations and spontaneous cylinder action.

Repair steps

  1. Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all hydraulic implements to the ground, and turn off the engine to relieve hydraulic system pressure.

  2. Locate External Hydraulic Valve 6 at the rear remote valve stack.

  3. Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the valve solenoid.

Inspect the pins for corrosion or damage.

  4. Clean the area around the valve to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

  5. Disconnect the hydraulic lines/hoses attached to Valve 6.

Cap the lines immediately to prevent fluid loss and contamination.

  6. Unbolt the faulty control valve from the valve block/housing and remove it.

  7. Install the replacement external hydraulic valve and torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications.

  8. Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical harness connector.

  9. Replace the hydraulic filter and top off the hydraulic fluid with OEM-approved UTTO fluid (e.g., 10W40 equivalent).

  10. Start the tractor and operate the hydraulic remote to bleed any trapped air from the system.

Check for leaks around the new valve.

  11. Use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the A.60.12 fault code from the system.
