Massey Ferguson A.60.1B: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue
Issue description
The tractor's onboard diagnostic system has detected a malfunction, electrical connection problem, or pressure fault specifically within the circuit of the 6th external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve).

Check the cause
Code Verification: Use a compatible diagnostic tool or interface device to retrieve and confirm the active 0A.60.1B code.
Electrical Inspection: Check the wiring harness and electrical connector going to External Valve 6. Connection problems are a frequent cause of hydraulic valve DTCs.
Fluid and Filter Check: Ensure the hydraulic fluid (UTTO, e.g., 10W40) is at the correct level and not contaminated. A clogged hydraulic filter can reduce oil flow and cause pressure faults.
Mechanical Linkage/Detent Check: Inspect the spool valve detents and linkages for wear. On models like the 7600 series, worn detents can cause the valve to stick or fail to hold pressure.
Leakage Inspection: Check for visible external leaks around the quick couplers and the valve body itself.
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Turn off the tractor, lower all implements to the ground, and relieve hydraulic pressure by cycling the hydraulic levers/controls.
Disconnect Electricals
Unplug the electrical harness connector from External Hydraulic Valve 6.
Prep for Fluid Loss
Place a large catch bucket under the valve block, as removing the valve will cause fluid loss. Clean the surrounding area to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.
Remove the Valve
Disconnect the hydraulic lines/hoses attached to Valve 6. Unbolt the valve assembly from the hydraulic stack or lift cover.
Rebuild or Replace
Rebuild: If using a repair kit, disassemble the spool valve, replace all internal O-rings and seals, and replace the detents if they are worn (detents can often be sourced separately for ~£100 to avoid buying a whole new valve). Replace: If the internal bore is scored, install a completely new external hydraulic valve assembly.
Reinstallation
Bolt the new/rebuilt valve back into the stack, reconnect the hydraulic lines, and plug in the electrical connector.
System Bleed and Test
Top off the hydraulic fluid with OEM UTTO fluid. Start the tractor and cycle Valve 6 multiple times to bleed air from the system. Check for leaks and use your diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.60.1B code.
