A.60.1E

Massey Ferguson A.60.1E – Hydraulic Valve Controller or Vehicle/Armrest ECU: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction in the 6th external hydraulic remote (spool valve) circuit, typically caused by an electrical connection problem to the valve's solenoid, mechanical binding of the spool valve, or an internal failure within the electric spool slice.

Check the cause

  1. Check hydraulic oil level and condition for low fluid, water contamination (milky oil), burnt smell, metal particles, or incorrect oil type

  2. Inspect hydraulic filters and strainers for blockages that could create multiple hydraulic fault symptoms

  3. Test the remote with another implement or hose set to rule out a faulty ram, hose, or coupler on the implement side

  4. Inspect external couplers for damage, dirt, poor fit, or pressure locking, and ensure the spool lever or electronic switch moves fully and returns to neutral

  5. Perform pressure and flow testing to isolate a localized Valve 6 issue from a general pump or relief valve fault

Repair steps

  1. Safety First

Lower all implements to the ground, turn off the engine, and relieve hydraulic pressure by cycling the hydraulic controls.

  2. Inspect Electrical Connections

Inspect the wiring harness and connector at External Valve 6 for corrosion, broken wires, or loose pins.

  3. Check for Mechanical Binding

Clean and lubricate the detent mechanism if accessible, as spool valve detents can rust up and cause the valve to stick.

  4. Replace the Spool Slice

Remove and replace the specific electric spool slice or complete valve assembly if the valve is internally scored, leaking, or the solenoid has failed electrically.

  5. Reprogramming

If replacing an electronic spool slice on the valve block, program/calibrate the new unit to the tractor's ECU using a dealer diagnostic tool.
