Massey Ferguson A.60.20 – Main vehicle ECU or EHR/Auxiliary Valve Controller: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue
Issue description
Malfunction within the circuit or mechanical operation of the 6th auxiliary hydraulic remote valve (spool valve). The system has detected a signal out of range, an electrical circuit problem, or a mechanical condition where the valve is not responding correctly to commands.

Check the cause
Check the electrical connections to the Valve 6 solenoid for an open circuit, a short to ground, or a short to power
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the rear hydraulic valve block for rub points, corrosion, or pinched wires
Measure the coil resistance of the Valve 6 solenoid with a multimeter and verify ground integrity
Check for a mechanically stuck valve by manually moving the pump control valve lever back and forth, or by repeatedly operating the lift arms to unstick the spool
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Turn off the tractor, lower all implements to the ground, and relieve hydraulic pressure by moving the remote levers/joysticks.
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts and ensure safety.
Locate Valve 6
Access the external hydraulic valve block at the rear of the tractor and identify the 6th slice/spool.
Replace the Solenoid (If Electrical)
If the coil resistance test failed, remove the retaining nut on the end of the spool valve, slide off the faulty solenoid coil, and install the replacement.
Rebuild the Spool Valve (If Mechanical/Leaking)
If the valve is mechanically stuck or leaking, remove the entire Valve 6 assembly from the block. Disassemble the spool, clean the internal components thoroughly, and replace all O-rings and seals using an OEM spool valve repair kit.
Reassembly
Reinstall the valve assembly, torque the mounting bolts to factory specifications, and reconnect the electrical harness.
Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery. Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.60.20 DTC from the system.
Test
Start the tractor, allow hydraulic pressure to build, and test the Valve 6 remote with an implement to ensure smooth operation and no leaks.
