Massey Ferguson A.60.24 – Tractor Control Unit (TCU) or Auxiliary Hydraulic Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

The tractor's diagnostic system has detected a malfunction on the 6th external hydraulic remote valve (auxiliary spool valve). This indicates an electrical fault (such as a connection problem, open circuit, or short in the valve's solenoid/wiring) or a mechanical failure within the electronic spool valve preventing it from actuating properly.

   Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 6 for corrosion, bent pins, moisture ingress, or wire chafing.

   Perform a solenoid swap test: swap the solenoid coil from Valve 6 with a known good coil from another valve (e.g., Valve 5). If the fault code changes to the other valve, the solenoid coil is faulty. If the code remains A.60.24, the issue is in the wiring harness or the mechanical valve block itself.

   Verify the hydraulic fluid level and condition. Ensure OEM UTTO is used. Check for a heavily contaminated hydraulic filter which can cause pressure drops and aeration.

   Relieve Pressure

   Lower all implements to the ground, turn off the engine, and cycle the hydraulic levers/buttons to relieve all residual hydraulic pressure in the system.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the rear remote valve stack to prevent dirt and debris from entering the hydraulic system during disassembly.

   Disconnect Electronics

   Unplug the electrical harness connector from External Hydraulic Valve 6.

   Replace the Solenoid

   If diagnostics pointed to a failed coil, remove the retaining nut on the end of the spool, slide off the old solenoid coil, and install the new one.

   Replace the Spool Valve

   If mechanical failure: Place a catch pan under the valve stack. Disconnect the hydraulic lines attached to Valve 6. Unbolt the faulty spool valve section from the hydraulic valve block assembly. Install the new spool valve, ensuring all O-rings and seals are properly seated and lubricated with clean hydraulic fluid. Torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications.

   Reassembly & Bleeding

   Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical harness. Top up the hydraulic fluid to replace any lost during the repair. Start the tractor and operate the valve to bleed air from the system.

7. 7

   Clear Codes

   Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the A.60.24 DTC from the system.
