Check the cause

  1. Perform a spool leakage check by testing the valve to see if pressure can be obtained on each port one at a time. If no pressure is built, oil is likely leaking around the spool, meaning the valve assembly will need to be replaced.

  2. Visually inspect for minor leaks around the valve block. Minor leaks can often be fixed by simply tightening fittings or replacing external seals.

  3. Check hydraulic fluid (UTTO) level and condition. Ensure fluid is not contaminated and filters are not clogged (filters should generally be changed every 300–500 hours).

Repair steps

  1. Remove cap bolts

Remove the bolts securing the cap on the hydraulic lift cover.

  2. Remove cap

Remove the cap and carefully detach it from the standpipe. Caution: Ensure that the standpipe is not dislodged from its seat in the hydraulic pump.

  3. Remove valve bolts

Remove the bolts securing the faulty hydraulic valve to the base plate.

  4. Separate valve

Separate the valve and the base section.

  5. Fit standpipe

Fit the standpipe into the inlet port of the new/repaired base plate.

  6. Fit base plate

Fit the base plate to the lift cover, ensuring the standpipe is correctly located into its seat on the hydraulic pump.

  7. Secure base plate

Secure the base plate to the lift cover.

  8. Secure new valve

Secure the new control valve to the base plate using the bolts removed earlier.

  9. Top off fluid and replace filter

Top off the system with fresh UTTO hydraulic fluid and replace the hydraulic filter to prevent contamination of the new valve.
