Massey Ferguson A.61.13 – Implement/Hydraulic Control Module or Vehicle Control Unit (VCU): External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue
Issue description
The tractor's onboard diagnostic system has detected a malfunction—typically an electrical connection problem, solenoid failure, or mechanical binding—within the 6th external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve) circuit.

Check the cause
Inspect the rear remote stack to locate External Hydraulic Valve 6. Check for obvious physical damage, hydraulic fluid leaks, or debris interfering with the valve spool.
Disconnect the electrical harness at Valve 6 and inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out terminals.
Trace the wiring harness from Valve 6 back to the control module to check for chafing, pinched wires, or breaks.
Use a multimeter to test the resistance (Ohms) of the Valve 6 solenoid and compare it against a known good valve on the same tractor (e.g., Valve 5). An open circuit or short indicates a failed solenoid.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts during repair.
Relieve Pressure
Ensure all hydraulic pressure is relieved from the system by cycling the hydraulic controls (if manual overrides are present) or following the depressurization steps in the operator's manual.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the rear remote valve stack around Valve 6 to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.
Disconnect Electronics
Unplug the electrical connector from the Valve 6 solenoid.
Replace the Component
If the solenoid failed: Remove the retaining nut/screws holding the solenoid coil to the valve cartridge. Slide the old coil off and install the new one. If the valve slice failed internally: Unbolt the tie-rods holding the remote valve stack together. Carefully remove the Valve 6 slice, ensuring you do not lose the O-rings between the slices. Install the new valve slice with new O-rings and torque the tie-rods to OEM specifications.
Reassembly
Reconnect the electrical harness and the battery.
Calibration/Clearing
Start the tractor and use a compatible diagnostic tool (or the in-cab terminal, if supported) to clear the 0A.61.13 DTC and recalibrate the hydraulic valves.
Parts you might need
(1)External Hydraulic Valve Slice / Remote Valve Solenoid Coil
When ordering, you must provide your tractor's exact serial number to an AGCO/Massey Ferguson dealer to ensure you receive the correct Bosch Rexroth or Danfoss valve slice/solenoid used on your specific build.
