Issue description
Malfunction in the 6th rear electro-hydraulic remote (EHR) valve. The underlying condition is typically an electrical fault (such as a loss of voltage, a short, or a poor connection at the valve's solenoid), a communication error on the CAN bus, or a mechanical sticking of the spool that prevents the valve from reaching its commanded position.

Check the cause
Electrical Pinpoint Test: Inspect the wiring harness and connector leading to External Hydraulic Valve 6 at the rear remote stack for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or wire chafing.
Solenoid Swap Test: Swap the electrical connector from Valve 6 to an adjacent working valve (e.g., Valve 5). If the fault code changes to indicate Valve 5, the issue is in the wiring harness or control module. If it remains on Valve 6, the issue is the solenoid or valve slice.
Fluid and Filter Check: Ensure the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) is at the correct level and not contaminated, as a dirty filter can cause pressure drops and erratic behavior.
Manual Override: If equipped, press the manual override pin on the EHR valve to see if the spool moves freely. If mechanically seized, the valve block requires disassembly.
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Turn off the tractor engine. Cycle the hydraulic remote levers/buttons in the cab multiple times to relieve any residual hydraulic pressure in the system.
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts and to reset the modules.
Access the Valve Stack
Locate the rear hydraulic remote valve stack. Identify the 6th valve slice (usually the furthest from the inlet plate, depending on the configuration).
Replace the Solenoid (If electrical fault)
Disconnect the wiring harness. Remove the retaining nut at the end of the solenoid coil and slide the coil off the valve stem. Install the new solenoid, tighten the nut, and reconnect the harness.
Replace the Valve Slice (If mechanically failed/leaking)
Disconnect the hydraulic lines and quick couplers attached to Valve 6. Remove the tie-rod nuts that hold the entire hydraulic valve stack together. Carefully separate the stack and remove the faulty Valve 6 slice. Clean the mating surfaces and install new O-rings between the slices. Insert the new valve slice, reinsert the tie-rods, and torque them to OEM specifications to prevent leaks.
Reassembly and Testing
Reconnect all hydraulic lines and the electrical harness. Reconnect the battery. Top up the hydraulic fluid with OEM-spec UTTO fluid. Start the tractor, test the remote for proper operation, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.61.18 code.
