A.61.1A

Massey Ferguson A.61.1A – Control Unit Dashboard: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction in the circuit, communication, or mechanical operation of the 6th external remote hydraulic spool valve, typically stemming from an electrical fault, a software/programming loss, or a physical restriction.

Check the cause

  1. Check the hydraulic oil for contamination and inspect the hydraulic/transmission filters for blockages.

  2. Check the electrical connections at the Valve 6 solenoid for an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power.

  3. Inspect the solenoid connector for corrosion, check harness rub points, and verify coil resistance and ground integrity.

  4. Inspect the hydraulic couplers and hoses connected to Valve 6 for damage, wear, or blockages.

  5. Verify if the valve has lost its programming or needs to be re-designated to the control unit.

Repair steps

  1. Retrieve and Verify Codes

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to confirm code 0A.61.1A is active.

  2. Service the Basics

If the hydraulic oil is contaminated or the transmission/hydraulic filter is blocked, drain the fluid, replace the filters, and refill with clean OEM-spec hydraulic fluid.

  3. Repair Wiring

If the diagnostic checks revealed a wiring fault at the Valve 6 solenoid (e.g., rubbed harness or corroded connector), repair the wiring loom or replace the connector pigtail.

  4. Valve Replacement

If the electrical supply is good but the valve is dead or internally stuck, remove the Valve 6 electronic spool assembly and install the replacement valve.

  5. Programming

If a new electronic valve is installed, it must be programmed using the dealer diagnostic tool so the tractor knows which valve it is controlling. Ensure the software to the valves is updated to the latest version.

  6. Clear Codes and Unlock

Access the control unit dashboard to delete the error code, which is mandatory to unblock the valves, then test the hydraulic remote for proper operation.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • Electronic External Hydraulic Spool Valve (Valve 6)

OEM part numbers vary heavily by exact chassis/series.

  • Hydraulic / Transmission Oil Filter

Exact OEM number depends on the tractor model.

  • Hydraulic Couplers

    1/2" female quick couplers.
