Massey Ferguson A.61.1E – Implement Control Module / Vehicle Control Unit (VCU): External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

Issue description

Indicates a malfunction, electrical fault, or connection problem associated with the 6th external hydraulic remote (spool valve) on the tractor.

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool or interface device to retrieve and confirm the active 0A.61.1E code.
Inspect the electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 6 (usually located at the rear remote stack) for loose pins, dirt, or moisture.
Trace the wiring harness from the 6th spool valve back to the control module to check for chafing, breaks, or corrosion.

Power down and disconnect battery
Power down the tractor and disconnect the battery to protect the ECU.
Locate valve slice
Locate the 6th external hydraulic valve slice at the rear of the tractor.
Clean and grease contacts
Disconnect the electrical harness to the valve's solenoid. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and apply dielectric grease.
Reconnect harness
Reconnect the harness securely.
Replace valve if necessary
If the wiring is intact and the code persists after clearing it with a diagnostic tool, the electronic spool valve solenoid or the entire valve slice has likely failed internally and must be replaced.
Clear DTCs and test
Clear the DTCs using the diagnostic tool and test the remote for proper hydraulic flow and pressure.
