Massey Ferguson A.61.1F – Hydraulic Valve Controller: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue
Issue description
Malfunction in the circuit or mechanical operation of the 6th remote electro-hydraulic spool valve. The underlying condition is typically an electrical/circuit fault, sensor issue, or mechanical fault.

Check the cause
Check the Valve LED on the physical electronic valve block at the rear of the tractor (solid red = power, green = input, flashing = internal fault)
Inspect the solenoid connector at Valve 6 for moisture, corrosion, or pushed-back pins, and trace the harness back to the controller for rub points or chafing
Test the resistance of the solenoid coil and verify the ground integrity of the valve position sensor using a multimeter
Check the hydraulic/transmission oil filter for heavy contamination, which can cause the spool to stick mechanically
Repair steps
Isolate the Valve
Identify External Valve 6 at the rear remote stack.
Resolve Electrical Faults
If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or corroded connector, repair the harness or replace the pigtail connector.
Replace the Solenoid/Sensor
If the wiring is intact but the coil resistance is out of spec (or the position sensor is dead), replace the solenoid coil or sensor cap on the valve.
Address Mechanical Binding
If the valve is receiving the correct signals but failing to physically shift (or failing to return to neutral), the valve body must be removed. Clean the spool and replace the internal seals. If the spool is scored, the entire valve slice must be replaced.
Clear the Code
The affected valve will remain locked out by the ECU even after the physical repair is made. You must clear the error code from the control unit dashboard.
Reboot the System
Stop the engine, cycle the key, and restart the tractor to reactivate the valve module and confirm the repair.
Parts you might need
(3)Electro-Hydraulic Spool Valve Assembly
OEM Bosch Rexroth or Danfoss, depending on the year.
Valve Position Sensor / Solenoid Coil
Often sold as a repair kit for the specific valve slice.
Hydraulic / Transmission Oil Filter
Recommended to replace if oil contamination caused the valve to stick.
