Issue description

Malfunction in the circuit or mechanical operation of the 6th external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve), typically caused by an electrical connection problem (short, open circuit, or poor voltage) or a mechanical binding/blockage within the valve spool itself.

Check the cause

  1. Check hydraulic fluid (UTTO) level and filter condition; a heavily contaminated filter can restrict flow and cause valve actuation faults

  2. Visually inspect the external hydraulic valve block at the rear of the tractor for physical damage, severe leaks, or damaged quick couplers on Valve 6

  3. Disconnect the wiring harness at Valve 6 and inspect pins for corrosion, bent terminals, or moisture ingress

  4. Use a multimeter to check for proper voltage and continuity from the ECU to the valve solenoid

  5. Measure the resistance across the Valve 6 solenoid coil to ensure it is within OEM specifications (not shorted or open)

  6. Perform a swap test by temporarily swapping the solenoid from Valve 6 with an adjacent, known-good valve (e.g., Valve 5). If the fault code changes to the new valve's circuit, the solenoid is faulty. If it remains A.61.27, the issue is in the wiring harness or the mechanical spool

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

    Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic remote levers/buttons to relieve all residual hydraulic pressure in the system.

  2. Clean the Area

    Thoroughly clean the external valve block area to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during disassembly.

  3. Disconnect Electricals

    Unplug the electrical connector from the Valve 6 solenoid.

  4. Remove the Valve/Solenoid

    Depending on the diagnosis, either unbolt the solenoid coil from the valve body or remove the retaining bolts holding the Valve 6 slice to the main hydraulic block.

  5. Inspect Seals

    Check the mating surfaces and O-rings between the valve slices. Discard old O-rings.

  6. Install New Parts

    Install the new solenoid or replacement valve section. Ensure new, lubricated O-rings are used between the valve bodies.

  7. Reassembly

    Torque the retaining bolts to the manufacturer's specification (refer to the specific model's service manual to avoid warping the spool body). Reconnect the electrical harness.

  8. Test and Clear Codes

    Top up the hydraulic fluid if any was lost. Start the tractor, actuate Valve 6 to bleed any trapped air, and use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the A.61.27 fault code.
