Massey Ferguson A.62.13 – Electro-Hydraulic Unit: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

Malfunction in External Hydraulic Valve 6 (rear remote spool valve #6). The underlying condition is typically an electrical fault with the valve's solenoid (such as an open circuit, short circuit to ground, or short circuit between cables) or a mechanical issue where the valve is sticking, failing to reach its commanded position, or experiencing a fast decay error. It can also be triggered by poor fluid pressure reaching the valve due to aeration or severe filter restriction.

   Verify the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) level and condition, and check the hydraulic filter for severe contamination or restriction (fluid pressure cause)

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the rear remote Valve 6 stack for chafed wires causing a short to ground or an open circuit, and test solenoid resistance with a multimeter (electrical cause)

   Check if the spool valve is physically stuck by manually moving the control valve lever back and forth or repeatedly actuating the lift controls (mechanical cause)

   Inspect the quick couplers, O-rings, and external valve block for visible leaks or signs of system aeration

   Depressurize the System

   Lower all hydraulic implements to the ground and turn off the engine. Relieve residual hydraulic pressure by cycling the hydraulic levers/joystick.

   Disconnect Electricals

   Disconnect the battery isolator. Unplug the wiring harness connector specifically routed to External Valve 6.

   Remove the Valve

   Unbolt the hydraulic lines connected to Valve 6. Cap the lines immediately to prevent contamination. Unbolt the valve section from the rear remote stack.

   Rebuild or Replace

   If using a spool valve repair kit, disassemble the valve on a clean workbench, replace the internal O-rings, springs, and seals, and reassemble. Otherwise, install a completely new OEM control valve unit.

   Reinstallation

   Bolt the new/rebuilt valve back into the stack. Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical harness.

   Fluid and Testing

   Top off the hydraulic fluid with OEM-spec UTTO fluid. Start the tractor, allow the system to warm up, and actuate Valve 6 to bleed any trapped air.

   Clear Codes

   Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic interface tool to clear the DTC from the Electro-Hydraulic ECU.
