Massey Ferguson A.62.1E – Auxiliary Valve Controller / Mid Mount Valve Module or Linkage Calculator (EHR): External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

Malfunction in the electro-hydraulic circuit or physical operation of the #6 rear remote/auxiliary spool valve. The system has detected an anomaly such as a signal out of range, a circuit problem (open/short), a valve position sensor error, or a failure of the valve spool to return to the neutral position.

   Inspect the LED indicator on the #6 electronic valve block (solid red indicates power, green indicates input command, flashing indicates an internal fault)

   Test the SMS joystick or fingertip controls in the cab and verify if the hydraulic unlock button is functioning or blinking red

   Check the wiring harness and connector at the #6 valve for rub points, corrosion, pushed pins, or water ingress

   Use a multimeter to check the solenoid coil resistance and verify ground integrity to rule out an open circuit or short to ground

   Ensure the external linkage is not binding and that the valve is physically capable of returning to the center/neutral position.

   Clear and Reset

   Attempt to clear the error code from the control unit dashboard. Unlock the valves using the cab controls. Stop the engine, wait for the system to power down completely, and restart the engine to see if the valve reactivates.

   Clean Connections

   If the code returns, disconnect the electrical plug at the #6 external hydraulic valve. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and apply dielectric grease. Reconnect and test.

   Swap Test (Optional)

   If the wiring tests good, temporarily swap the electrical actuator/solenoid head from a known working valve (e.g., Valve 4 or 5) to Valve 6. If the fault code follows the actuator head (e.g., changes to a Valve 5 error), the electronic actuator head is faulty. If the code remains on Valve 6, the issue is either in the tractor's wiring harness or the mechanical spool itself is jammed.

   Replace the Valve/Actuator

   If the valve position sensor or internal solenoid has failed, depressurize the hydraulic system and replace the electro-hydraulic spool valve assembly (or just the electronic actuator head, depending on parts availability for your specific series).

   Recalibrate

   After replacing the valve, use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the codes and recalibrate the auxiliary valves so the ECU learns the new valve's neutral and end-stop positions.
