A.62.26

Massey Ferguson A.62.26 – EHR (Electronic Hydraulic Remote) control module or main Tractor Control Unit (TCU): External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

Issue description

The diagnostic system has detected a malfunction in the 6th electronic hydraulic remote (spool) valve, typically caused by an electrical connection problem, a failure of the valve's internal solenoid/actuator, or a mechanical restriction preventing the valve from responding to commands.

Check the cause

  1. Check hydraulic fluid (UTTO) level and condition, and inspect for a blocked hydraulic/transmission filter (primary cause of spool valve restrictions).

  2. Disconnect the wiring harness at External Valve 6 and inspect for corrosion, bent pins, or moisture. Test harness for continuity back to the EHR module.

  3. Inspect the valve block, quick couplers, and hoses for external leaks or physical damage.

  4. Perform a swap test by temporarily swapping the electrical connector from Valve 6 to an adjacent working valve (e.g., Valve 5) to determine if the fault follows the wiring or stays with the valve block.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Lower all implements to the ground. Turn off the engine and cycle the hydraulic controls to relieve any residual pressure in the system.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the rear remote valve stack to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during disassembly.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical harness connector from Valve 6. Disconnect the hydraulic lines/hoses attached to the valve.

  4. Remove the Valve

Unbolt the faulty spool valve section from the hydraulic valve stack (note that on some models, this requires loosening tie-rods that hold the valve slices together).

  5. Install the New Valve

Replace the O-rings/seals between the valve slices. Install the new Valve 6 and torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications.

  6. Reassemble

Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical harness.

  7. Fluid and Calibration

Top up the hydraulic fluid with OEM UTTO fluid. Start the tractor, check for leaks, and use a compatible diagnostic tool (or the tractor's Datatronic terminal) to clear the DTC and perform a valve calibration so the ECU learns the new valve's limits.

Parts you might need

(4)
  • External Hydraulic Valve (Spool Valve) Assembly

Consult dealer with your specific VIN/Serial for the exact slice

  • Hydraulic Filter
