Check the cause

  1. Check for low hydraulic oil and inspect hydraulic filters for blockages

  2. Check for faulty, leaking, or non-matching hydraulic couplers on the remote valve

  3. Inspect for external suction leaks or internal pressure loss (e.g., linkage dropping overnight points to internal pressure escaping past seals)

  4. Check the wiring harness and connectors at External Valve 6 for connection problems, corrosion, or shorts

  5. Test the relief valve pressure using a pressure gauge (do not adjust relief valves without a gauge)

  6. Check if the spool inside the valve is physically sticking

Repair steps

  1. Diagnose in Order

Follow the sequence of checking oil, filters, couplers, linkage, valves, pressure, flow, and finally internal components.

  2. Relieve Pressure

Ensure the tractor is off, implements are lowered, and all hydraulic pressure is relieved from the system before servicing the valve.

  3. Address Electrical Faults

If the diagnostic tool indicates a connection problem, repair or replace the wiring pigtail to Valve 6.

  4. Remove the Valve

If the spool is sticking or leaking internally, disconnect the hydraulic hoses and remove the external hydraulic spool valve assembly from the valve block.

  5. Rebuild or Replace

To Rebuild: Use an OEM spool valve repair kit to replace worn O-rings, seals, and springs inside the valve. To Replace: If the valve body is scored or the spool is heavily damaged, replace the entire external hydraulic valve unit.

  6. Reinstall and Test

Mount the repaired/new valve, reconnect the hoses, and top off the hydraulic oil.

  7. Clear Codes

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool/interface to clear the 0A.63.1E code and test the remote valve under load.
