Massey Ferguson A.63.23 – Hydraulic Control Module or Armrest Controller: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

The control unit has detected a fault in the circuit or operation of the 6th rear remote hydraulic spool valve. This typically points to an electrical problem (such as an open circuit, a short to ground, or a short to power in the valve's solenoid), a sensor signal out of range, or a mechanical/pressure condition that the system cannot correct.

   Check the hydraulic/transmission oil level and ensure the hydraulic filter is not blocked or contaminated, which can cause pressure-related faults.

   Inspect the electrical harness leading to the #6 external hydraulic valve for rub points, broken wires, or corroded solenoid connectors.

   Measure the coil resistance of the #6 valve solenoid with a multimeter to check for an open circuit or a short to ground.

   Perform a swap test by moving the electrical connector from Valve 6 to another known working valve (like Valve 5). If the error code changes to the new valve, the issue is in the wiring. If the code remains on Valve 6, the solenoid or the valve slice itself is faulty.

   Relieve Pressure

   Lower all implements to the ground and turn off the tractor to relieve all hydraulic pressure in the system.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the rear remote valve block to prevent dirt from contaminating the hydraulic system during disassembly.

   Disconnect Electricals

   Unplug the wiring harness from the #6 external hydraulic valve solenoid.

   Replace the Solenoid/Valve

   If only the solenoid is faulty: Unbolt the retaining nut/screws on the solenoid coil, slide it off the valve cartridge, and install the new coil. If the entire valve slice is faulty: Remove the tie-rod bolts that hold the hydraulic valve stack together. Carefully separate the slices and remove the #6 valve.

   Replace Seals

   Whenever separating valve slices, always install a new O-ring kit between the mating surfaces to prevent leaks.

   Reassembly

   Insert the new valve slice, reinstall the tie-rod bolts, and torque them to the manufacturer's specifications. Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Clear the Code

   Turn the tractor on. You must delete the error code from the control unit/dashboard to unlock the valves, as the system will keep the affected valve locked until the code is cleared.

   Test

   Operate the #6 remote to ensure proper function and check for leaks.
