A.63.24

Massey Ferguson A.63.24 – Hydraulic Control Module / Main Tractor ECU: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

Issue description

This indicates a malfunction, connection problem, or electrical fault specifically isolated to the 6th external hydraulic remote (spool valve) on the tractor's hydraulic valve stack.

Check the cause

  1. Verify that the hydraulic fluid is at the correct level and the hydraulic filters are not clogged, as starvation can cause valve actuation faults.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connector going to the #6 electric spool slice. Look for corrosion, bent pins, or frayed wires, as this code is frequently triggered by a loss of voltage or a physical connection problem.

  3. Test the pilot pressure control solenoid on the #6 valve for proper resistance and voltage supply.

  4. If the valve stack permits, temporarily swap the electrical connection from valve 5 to valve 6 to see if the fault code follows the wiring or stays with the physical valve slice.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic controls to relieve all residual hydraulic pressure from the system.

  2. Disconnect Electricals

Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Unplug the wiring harness connector from the #6 external hydraulic valve slice.

  3. Remove the Valve Slice

Unbolt the tie-rods/mounting bolts holding the hydraulic valve stack together. Carefully separate the #6 electric spool slice from the manifold block.

  4. Repair or Replace

If repairing: Use an OEM spool valve repair kit to replace the internal O-rings, seals, and backing rings. If replacing: Install the new electric spool slice unit. Ensure the mating surfaces are perfectly clean and new O-rings are seated between the slices.

  5. Reassembly

Torque the valve stack tie-rods to the manufacturer's specification to prevent binding the spools or causing leaks. Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical harness.

  6. Calibration

Refill any lost hydraulic fluid. Important: Newly installed electric spool slices often need to be programmed/calibrated to the tractor's ECU using a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool.

  7. Clear Codes

Use the diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.63.24 code and test the remote for proper operation.
