A.63.26

Massey Ferguson A.63.26: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

Issue description

Indicates a fault, restriction, or connection problem on the #6 remote hydraulic spool valve. This valve controls the flow and direction of hydraulic fluid to external implements. When this code triggers, the specific hydraulic circuit may become slow (restricted oil flow), weak (unable to generate enough pressure to lift/hold a load), or completely dead (unresponsive).

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the hydraulic oil filter and transmission filter for blockages, which can restrict flow

  2. Check the hydraulic fluid for contamination (dirty oil) and ensure it is at the proper level

  3. Look for blocked or damaged hydraulic couplers or worn hoses that could cause a pressure fault

  4. Look for visible fluid leaks around the #6 valve assembly, which can cause pressure drops

  5. Check if the valve lever is physically unresponsive, which indicates the valve is sticking or jammed due to debris or internal wear

  6. Ensure the tractor's PTO shaft is operating correctly; a sheared or interrupted drive to the hydraulic pump can present as a hydraulic failure

Repair steps

  1. Attempt Manual Release

If the valve is stuck, try manually moving the control valve lever back and forth to free it up.

  2. Remove the Valve

If the valve remains stuck or is leaking internally, remove the external hydraulic control valve (and pump, if necessary for access) from the tractor and place it on a workbench.

  3. Clean and Inspect

Thoroughly clean the valve assembly. Inspect the internal directional control spools and the pressure relief valve for debris, scoring, or wear.

  4. Replace Components

Replace any worn O-rings, the pressure relief valve, or the entire spool valve assembly if the internal wear is too severe to hold pressure.

  5. Reinstall and Test

Reinstall the valve assembly, top off the hydraulic fluid, and test the circuit with a hydraulic implement attached to ensure proper flow and pressure.
