Check the cause

  1. Check Filters & Fluid: Inspect the hydraulic oil filter and transmission filter for blockages or contaminated/dirty oil.

  2. Inspect Electrical Connections: Check the wiring harness and connector at External Valve 6 for corrosion, broken wires, or a loose fit.

  3. Inspect Couplers & Hoses: Check the quick couplers on the 6th remote for internal damage or blockages, and inspect the hoses for wear or crimping.

  4. Test System Pressure: Verify if the issue is isolated to Valve 6 or if the whole system is weak (which points to a failing hydraulic pump or main relief valve).

Repair steps

  1. Service the Fluid

If the hydraulic oil is contaminated or the filter is clogged, drain the hydraulic fluid, replace the hydraulic/transmission filter, and refill with clean OEM-spec fluid.

  2. Repair Wiring

If the diagnostic check revealed a wiring fault at the Valve 6 solenoid, clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and repair any damaged wire segments.

  3. Rebuild or Replace the Spool Valve

If the valve is physically sticking or leaking, remove the External Hydraulic Valve 6 assembly. Use an OEM spool valve repair kit to replace the internal O-rings and seals. If the valve bore is heavily scored or the electronic solenoid has failed internally, replace the entire hydraulic spool valve assembly.

  4. Clear Codes

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic interface tool to clear the A.63.28 / 0A.63.28 code from the system.

  5. Test

Hook up an implement to the 6th remote and test the hydraulics under load to ensure normal operation.
