A.63.29

Massey Ferguson A.63.29 – Hydraulic Control Module / Auxiliary Valve Controller: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

Issue description

The diagnostic system has detected a malfunction in the 6th external hydraulic remote valve. The underlying condition is typically an electrical fault (such as an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power in the valve's solenoid circuit), a sensor signal issue, or a mechanical/hydraulic binding issue preventing the spool valve from operating correctly.

Check the cause

  1. Verify system voltage (low voltage during cranking or weak grounds can trigger false hydraulic valve faults)

  2. Inspect the wiring harness leading to External Hydraulic Valve 6 for rub points, frayed wires, or a short to ground

  3. Disconnect the solenoid connector and check for moisture, corrosion, or loose pins

  4. Use a multimeter to measure the resistance of the Valve 6 solenoid coil and compare against OEM specifications to determine if the coil is open or shorted

  5. Ensure there is no mechanical binding at the spool valve and that hydraulic pressure is within normal operating range

Repair steps

  1. Retrieve and Confirm Codes

Connect a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to confirm the 0A.63.29 code and check for any secondary electrical codes.

  2. Relieve Pressure

Turn off the tractor and relieve all hydraulic system pressure by cycling the hydraulic levers/controls before servicing the valve block.

  3. Disconnect Electronics

Unplug the electrical harness connector from the External Hydraulic Valve 6 solenoid.

  4. Remove Faulty Component

If the solenoid failed the multimeter test, unbolt and remove the solenoid actuator from the spool valve. If the valve itself is mechanically seized or leaking internally, unbolt the entire Valve 6 slice from the external hydraulic valve stack.

  5. Install Replacement

Install the new spool valve assembly or solenoid repair kit. Torque the retaining bolts to OEM specifications.

  6. Reconnect

Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the connector clicks securely into place.

  7. Fluid Check

Top up the hydraulic fluid if any was lost during the removal of the valve.

  8. Clear Codes and Test

Use the diagnostic tool to clear the DTC. Start the tractor and operate the 6th remote valve to verify smooth operation and ensure the code does not return.

Parts you might need

(4)
  • External Hydraulic Valve Assembly / Spool Valve Solenoid

For 4700/5600/7600/7700 series tractors, the specific electronic proportional solenoid for Valve 6 must be sourced directly from an AGCO parts catalog using the tractor's VIN/Serial Number.

  • Massey Ferguson Spool Valve Repair Kit

    3176423M91

Fitment is primarily listed for older utility models like the MF 275/415; verify compatibility if adapting to newer Tier 4 models

  • Hydraulic Spool Valve Assembly

    1696239M92

Fits legacy 100-500 series; provided for reference if working on a retrofitted system

  • External Hydraulic Valve Single Spool
