A.6X.13

Massey Ferguson A.6X.13 – Implement and hydraulic management control unit: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

Issue description

The onboard diagnostic system has detected a fault on the 6th external hydraulic remote valve. This usually points to an electrical circuit issue (such as an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power at the valve's solenoid), a connection problem, or a mechanical condition where the valve position is out of range.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the solenoid connector on External Valve 6 for dust, moisture, or damaged pins. Check the wiring harness for rub points against the tractor frame.

  2. Verify the tractor's battery and charging system. Low voltage during cranking or operation can cause the ECU to throw false hydraulic valve codes.

  3. Confirm the hydraulic fluid level and condition. Foamy fluid suggests suction leaks. Check for clogged or collapsed hydraulic filters.

  4. Delete the error code from the control unit dashboard to unlock the valves, then test to see if the code immediately returns.

Repair steps

  1. Clear the Code

Use the dashboard or a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the code and unlock the hydraulic valves.

  2. Locate the Valve

Identify External Hydraulic Valve 6 at the rear remote stack.

  3. Test the Solenoid

Disconnect the electrical harness to the valve solenoid. Use a multimeter to test the coil resistance and verify ground integrity. If the resistance is out of specification (open or shorted), the solenoid coil is faulty and must be replaced.

  4. Inspect the Spool

If the electrical circuit is sound, the issue may be mechanical. Relieve all hydraulic system pressure.

  5. Replace the Valve/Solenoid

Unbolt the faulty solenoid or the entire spool valve assembly from the remote stack. Install the replacement part, ensuring all O-rings and seals are properly seated.

  6. Finalize

Top off the hydraulic fluid, bleed the system if necessary, and clear any remaining codes using a diagnostic tool.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • External Hydraulic Spool Valve / Hydraulic Remote Valve / Valve Solenoid Coil

    1696239M93

Ensure the replacement valve matches the electronic control requirements of your specific Tier 4 tractor series. You may only need to replace the electronic solenoid coil rather than the entire mechanical spool valve block if the failure is purely electrical.
