A.6X.1F

Massey Ferguson A.6X.1F – Onboard Diagnostic System / Main Vehicle ECU: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction, connection problem, or electrical failure associated with the 6th external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve) on the tractor's hydraulic block.

Check the cause

  1. Visual Wiring Inspection: Check the wiring harness leading to External Hydraulic Valve 6 for chafing, breaks, or melted insulation.

  2. Connector Check: Disconnect the electrical plug at Valve 6. Inspect for water ingress, bent pins, or corrosion. Clean with contact cleaner and reconnect to see if the code clears.

  3. Solenoid Testing: Use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the Valve 6 solenoid coil. Compare it against a known good valve (e.g., Valve 5) to determine if the coil is shorted or open.

  4. Hydraulic Fluid & Filter Check: Ensure the tractor's hydraulic fluid is at the correct level and the 25-micron hydraulic oil filter is not bypassed or clogged, which can cause valve sticking.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Lower all implements to the ground and turn off the engine. Cycle the hydraulic remote levers/switches to relieve any residual hydraulic pressure in the system.

  2. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the tractor's negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.

  3. Remove the Valve/Solenoid

Locate External Hydraulic Valve 6 on the rear hydraulic block. Disconnect its electrical harness.

  4. Unbolt the Component

Depending on the exact failure (solenoid vs. mechanical spool), unbolt the retaining screws holding the solenoid or the entire valve slice to the manifold. Be prepared with a catch pan for minor hydraulic fluid loss.

  5. Install the New Part

Lubricate the O-rings on the new valve/solenoid with clean hydraulic fluid. Bolt the new assembly into place, torquing to OEM specifications.

  6. Reassemble and Test

Reconnect the electrical harness and the battery. Top up the hydraulic fluid if necessary.

  7. Clear DTCs

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool/interface device to clear the 0A.6X.1F code from the system. Test the remote valve for proper operation.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Flow Part Valve / External Hydraulic Spool Valve

    3582523M2

Replaces older 3582523M1. When ordering, verify whether the entire valve slice is needed or just the electronic solenoid coil, as parts vary slightly between the Dyna-4, Dyna-6, and Dyna-VT transmission configurations.

  • Flow Part Valve / External Hydraulic Spool Valve

    3582523M1

    Older part replaced by 3582523M2.
