Massey Ferguson A.6X.27 – Auxiliary Hydraulic Controller / Tractor Management System: External Hydraulic Valve 6 Issue
Issue description
Malfunction in the 6th rear remote hydraulic spool valve circuit. This condition is typically triggered by an electrical fault (such as a short, open circuit, or failing spool position sensor), a calibration error, or a mechanical sticking of the valve that prevents it from reaching the commanded position.

Check the cause
Verify hydraulic fluid (UTTO) level and check if the hydraulic filter is clogged, as restricted flow can cause spool valves to throw position errors
Inspect External Valve 6 at the rear remote stack for visible leaks, physical damage, or heavy debris buildup that could cause the valve to jam
Check the wiring harness and connector going to Valve 6 for corrosion, bent pins, or broken wires
Perform a swap test by connecting the electrical connection/solenoid from Valve 6 to a known working valve (e.g., Valve 5). If the fault code changes to Valve 5, the solenoid or spool position sensor is faulty. If it remains A.6X.27, the issue is in the wiring harness or mechanical spool
Attempt to recalibrate the hydraulic valves through the tractor's diagnostic terminal to rule out software or calibration drift
Repair steps
Relieve Pressure
Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements, turn off the engine, and actuate the remote levers to relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the rear remote valve stack with brake cleaner or a pressure washer to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during disassembly.
Disconnect Wiring
Disconnect the electrical harness from External Hydraulic Valve 6.
Remove the Valve
Unbolt and remove the faulty spool valve section or the specific solenoid/sensor assembly from the main valve block.
Install New Components
Install the replacement valve section or electrical component. Ensure all O-rings and seals are properly seated and lubricated with clean hydraulic fluid.
Reassemble
Torque the mounting bolts to the manufacturer's specifications and reconnect the electrical harness.
Test
Start the tractor, check for leaks around the valve stack, and verify the hydraulic fluid level.
Clear Codes & Calibrate
Use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the A.6X.27 fault code and perform a spool valve calibration so the ECU learns the new valve's parameters.
