Massey Ferguson A.70.25 – Electro-Hydraulic Remotes (EHR) / Autotronic or implement control ECU: External Hydraulic Valve 7 Issue

The onboard diagnostic system has detected a malfunction related to the 7th external hydraulic remote valve.    Check the hydraulic oil level and inspect the oil for contamination (dirt or water). A blocked hydraulic/transmission filter can restrict flow and cause valve performance issues.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to External Hydraulic Valve 7. Look for rub points, frayed wires, or pinched harnesses that could cause a short to ground.

   Disconnect the electrical connector at the valve solenoid. Check for corrosion, bent pins, or moisture inside the plug.

   Use a multimeter to test the solenoid coil resistance and verify ground integrity. An open coil will trigger this code.

   Ensure the hydraulic quick couplers at the rear of the tractor are not blocked or internally damaged, which can cause pressure-related faults.

   Depressurize the System

   Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements, turn off the engine, and relieve hydraulic system pressure by cycling the remote levers/buttons.

   Locate the Valve

   Identify External Hydraulic Valve 7 on the rear remote valve stack.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the area around the valve block with brake cleaner to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during disassembly.

   Disconnect Electricals

   Unplug the electrical harness from the valve's solenoid.

   Replace the Solenoid

   If diagnostic tests proved the solenoid coil is dead, remove the retaining nut, slide the old coil off the valve cartridge, install the new coil, and tighten the nut.

   Replace the Spool Valve

   If sticking/mechanically failed, unbolt the specific valve section from the remote stack (have a catch pan ready for residual hydraulic fluid). Install the new spool valve section or replace the internal O-rings/seals if rebuilding. Torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Fluid Top-Off

   Check and top off the hydraulic/transmission fluid if any was lost during the repair.

   Clear Codes

   Start the tractor, test the operation of remote valve 7, check for leaks, and use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the A.70.25 fault code from the system.
