A.70.27

Massey Ferguson A.70.27 – Autotronic module or linkage calculator: External Hydraulic Valve 7 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction, connection problem, or operational failure associated with the 7th external hydraulic spool valve (electrohydraulic remote valve). Operators may experience slow, weak, or completely dead remote hydraulics on that specific circuit.

Check the cause

  1. Check the LED indicators on the electronic valve itself (should be red when receiving power, green when receiving input, and flashing if actively detecting a fault)

  2. Inspect the electrical wiring harness and connectors going to the #7 spool valve for corrosion, breaks, or loose connections

  3. Check for mechanical binding in the spool valve detents, which can rust or stick and restrict movement

  4. Inspect the hydraulic oil for dirt or debris contamination and check the hydraulic/transmission filters for blockages

  5. Ensure the hydraulic couplers are not damaged or blocked, and that hoses are not restricted

Repair steps

  1. Safety First

Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements to the ground, stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for all moving parts to stop. Relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system.

  2. Access the Valve Block

Locate the external hydraulic valve block at the rear of the tractor and identify the slice corresponding to valve #7.

  3. Clean and Test Connections

Disconnect the electrical harness to the valve, clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, and reconnect. Test the system to see if the code clears.

  4. Remove the Valve Slice

If the valve is internally faulty, leaking, or rusted, you will need to remove it. Remove the lower stud/tie-rod that holds the valve slices together.

  5. Extract the Valve

Carefully pull the affected valve slice out of the assembly.

  6. Replace O-Rings or the Complete Valve

If the issue is a simple leak between slices, replace the O-rings on the poppets. However, if the electrohydraulic solenoids or detents have failed, Massey Ferguson typically requires replacing the complete valve slice.

  7. Reassemble

Insert the new valve slice or new O-rings, reinstall the retaining stud, and torque to the manufacturer's specifications. Reconnect the electrical harness and hydraulic lines.

  8. Service Fluids

If the oil was contaminated, replace the hydraulic/transmission filter and top off the hydraulic fluid.

  9. Clear Codes

Use a compatible diagnostic tool or the tractor's onboard Autotronic screen (accessed by turning the key on, pushing and releasing the clutch, and holding the up arrow key) to clear the DTC.

Parts you might need

(7)
  • Electrohydraulic Spool Valve / External Hydraulic Valve Slice
