A.71.11

Massey Ferguson A.71.11 – Hydraulic Control Module / Implement Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 7 Issue

Issue description

Connection problem, electrical fault (such as a short or open circuit), or a mechanical failure preventing the 7th external hydraulic spool valve from operating correctly.

Check the cause

  1. Verify the hydraulic fluid level is correct.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness leading to External Hydraulic Valve 7. Look for heavy corrosion on the terminals, broken wires, or a loose connector.

  3. Check that the electrical coil on the specific valve block is receiving power when the switch/lever is activated in the cab.

  4. Check the operation of the in-cab switch/control lever to ensure it is sending the correct signal to the module.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize

Turn off the tractor, disconnect the battery, and relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system before servicing the valve block.

  2. Access the Valve Block

Locate the external hydraulic valve block at the rear of the tractor and identify the actuator/spool for Valve 7.

  3. Clean and Repair Connections

If heavy corrosion or a connection problem is found at the harness, clean the terminals with contact cleaner and replace the connector pigtail if necessary.

  4. Remove the Spool Valve

If the electrical feed is good but the valve is unresponsive, carefully remove the spool valve from the block.

  5. Clean and Inspect

Clean the spool valve and check its mechanical operation. Look for scored metal, stuck plungers, or debris blocking the flow.

  6. Replace Components

If the solenoid coil is burnt out (fails a continuity test), replace the hydraulic valve coil. If the spool itself is damaged, replace the external hydraulic valve section.

  7. Reassemble and Clear Codes

Reinstall the valve, top off the hydraulic fluid, reconnect the battery, and use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the DTC.

Parts you might need

(4)
  • External Hydraulic Valve Spool / Actuator

    Fitment: Rear external hydraulic block.

  • Hydraulic Valve Coil (12V)

Fitment: Mounts directly to the spool valve to actuate hydraulic flow.

  • Hydraulic Coupler (Female body half)

Fitment: Replaced if the external remote tip is leaking or damaged.

  • Hydraulic Oil Filter Cartridge

Fitment: Recommended to replace if debris is found in the spool valve.
