Check the cause
Check the hydraulic fluid level and condition. Dirty or low hydraulic fluid can cause premature solenoid or valve failure or sticking.
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the number 7 rear remote valve. Look for chafed wires, loose connector pins, or corrosion inside the plug.
Test the solenoid coil on Valve 7 for proper resistance using a multimeter. Verify that the solenoid is receiving the correct voltage when the valve is commanded to open or close from the cab.
If the valve stack allows, temporarily swap the solenoid coil from Valve 7 with an adjacent working valve to see if the fault code follows the coil or stays with the valve body and wiring.
Repair steps
Safety First
Lower all implements to the ground, turn off the tractor, and relieve all hydraulic system pressure. Disconnect the tractor's battery.
Locate the Valve
Identify External Hydraulic Valve 7 at the rear remote valve stack.
Disconnect Electricals
Unplug the wiring harness connector from the faulty valve's solenoid.
Remove the Valve/Solenoid
Remove the retaining bolts holding the solenoid or the entire spool valve slice to the hydraulic block.
Clean and Prep
Clean the mating surface on the valve block. Ensure no dirt enters the hydraulic system.
Install New Part
Install the replacement solenoid or spool valve. Ensure all new O-rings and seals are properly seated to prevent leaks.
Reassembly
Torque the retaining bolts to the manufacturer's specifications and reconnect the electrical harness.
Test
Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and top off hydraulic fluid if any was lost. Cycle the #7 remote from the cab to ensure proper operation and check for leaks.
Clear Codes
Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.71.24 DTC from the system.
