A.71.2A

Massey Ferguson A.71.2A – Main vehicle control module or hydraulic control module: External Hydraulic Valve 7 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction within the 7th external hydraulic remote/spool valve circuit. The underlying condition is typically an electrical connection problem to the valve's solenoid, a sticking internal spool, internal pressure leakage, or a faulty relief valve.

Check the cause

  1. Check the hydraulic oil level and ensure the hydraulic filters are not blocked (diagnose with warm oil, as cold oil can mask issues)

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector going to the solenoid on External Valve 7 for corrosion, broken wires, or loose pins

  3. Inspect the hydraulic couplers for faults, non-matching tips, or external leaks

  4. Check for a sticking spool or internal pressure loss (indicated if linkage or implements drop overnight). Use a pressure gauge to test the relief valve pressure

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements to the ground, turn off the engine, and cycle the hydraulic controls to relieve all residual system pressure.

  2. Access the Valve Block

Locate External Hydraulic Valve 7 in the rear remote spool valve stack.

  3. Disconnect Electricals

Carefully unplug the electrical solenoid connector for Valve 7.

  4. Remove the Valve

Disconnect the hydraulic lines attached to the valve. Unbolt the specific spool valve section from the hydraulic block assembly.

  5. Disassemble and Reseal

Take the valve to a clean workbench. Disassemble the spool valve, clean all components, and inspect the spool and bore for scoring.

  6. Install Repair Kit

Replace all internal O-rings, seals, and worn components using an OEM spool valve repair kit.

  7. Reassembly

Reassemble the valve, reinstall it into the valve stack, and torque the mounting bolts to factory specifications.

  8. Test

Reconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical harness. Top up the hydraulic oil, start the tractor, and operate the valve to ensure the fault code clears and there are no leaks.
