Massey Ferguson A.72.23: External Hydraulic Valve 7 Issue

Issue description

Indicates a malfunction, connection problem, or pressure loss associated with the 7th external hydraulic control valve.

Check the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) levels and condition to ensure it is not contaminated
Inspect control valves, hoses, couplers, seals, and cylinders for visible external leaks
Check for internal pressure loss by observing if the linkage drops overnight, which indicates escaping pressure through worn seals, valves, or O-rings
Verify if the hydraulic filters have been changed within the recommended 300–500 hour service interval

Flush and Replace Fluid
If the fluid is contaminated, flush the system and replace it with OEM UTTO fluid (e.g., 10W40).
Replace Filters
Change the hydraulic filters to keep contaminants like metal shavings out of the new valve components.
Valve Servicing/Replacement
Remove the affected spool valve. When reinstalling or rebuilding the spool valve, it must be reinstalled vertically to obtain the correct fitting of the O-rings and thickness shims.
Seal Replacement
Replace any worn lift cylinder seals, damaged O-rings, or faulty check valves that may be causing internal pressure loss.
Tightening
Ensure thickness shims are correctly placed to allow the tightening load to be distributed evenly on the valve assembly.
