Check the cause
Verify the hydraulic fluid level and condition. Low or contaminated fluid can cause valve actuation issues.
Inspect the electrical connector and wiring harness going to External Hydraulic Valve 7. Look for frayed wires, corrosion, or loose pins.
Use a multimeter to test the electronic solenoid on Valve 7 for proper resistance and verify it is receiving the correct voltage from the ECU when actuated.
Check for external hydraulic fluid leaks around the valve block, spool seals, and O-rings.
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all hydraulic implements to the ground, and turn off the engine.
Relieve Pressure
Relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system by cycling the hydraulic remote controls/joystick back and forth.
Locate the Valve
Locate External Hydraulic Valve 7 in the rear hydraulic remote stack. Thoroughly clean the exterior of the valve block to prevent dirt and debris from entering the hydraulic system during removal.
Disconnection
Disconnect the electrical wiring harness connector from the valve's solenoid.
Removal
Remove the mounting bolts securing the valve to the hydraulic manifold/block. Carefully pull the faulty valve away from the stack.
Preparation for New Valve
Inspect the mounting surface on the manifold. Install new O-rings and seals on the replacement valve (do not reuse old seals).
Installation
Mount the new valve to the stack and torque the mounting bolts to the OEM specifications found in your specific model's service manual.
Reconnection
Reconnect the electrical harness to the new valve solenoid.
Testing
Start the tractor and operate the hydraulic remote to bleed any trapped air from the system. Inspect the mating surfaces for leaks.
Clear Codes
Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.73.11 DTC from the system.
