A.73.1E

Massey Ferguson A.73.1E – Remote (Aux) Controller / Armrest Controller: External Hydraulic Valve 7 Issue

Issue description

A malfunction in the electro-hydraulic remote (EHR) valve number 7 (spool valve), typically caused by an electrical fault, a communication failure on the CAN bus, or a mechanical failure within the valve's internal solenoid/microprocessor.

Check the cause

  1. Verify the hydraulic fluid level and ensure the hydraulic filter is not clogged.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors at the rear remote stack for Valve 7 for damaged pins, corrosion, or chafed wires causing a short to ground.

  3. Check the lever potentiometer in the armrest controller.

  4. Use a compatible diagnostic tool to read live measure values (voltage) and perform a Component Actuation test to see if the valve solenoid responds mechanically.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Turn off the tractor and actuate the hydraulic levers to relieve all system pressure before working on the remote valves.

  2. Disconnect Electricals

Disconnect the CAN bus/electrical connector from EHR Valve 7.

  3. Remove the Valve

Unbolt the tie-rods/mounting bolts securing the valve stack. Carefully slide out Valve 7.

  4. Install the New Valve

Insert the replacement valve slice, ensuring all O-rings between the valve slices are seated correctly to prevent internal leaks. Torque the stack bolts to OEM specifications.

  5. EHR Valve Renumbering

Use a diagnostic tool to perform an Electro-Hydraulic Remote Valve Renumbering Procedure and an Electro-Hydraulic Remote Valve Lever Calibration so the system recognizes the new slice as Valve 7.

  6. Clear Codes

Clear the 0A.73.1E fault code from the ECU memory and test the implement under load.
