A.73.25

Massey Ferguson A.73.25 – Implement/Hydraulic Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 7 Issue

Issue description

The tractor's onboard diagnostic system has detected a fault—typically an electrical connection problem, voltage irregularity, or solenoid failure—on the 7th external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve).

Check the cause

  1. Locate External Hydraulic Valve 7 at the rear remote stack and check for obvious signs of hydraulic leaks or physical damage to the valve slice.

  2. Inspect the electrical connector plugging into the valve's solenoid. Look for corrosion, bent pins, or a loose connection (connection problems are the most common cause of this code).

  3. Trace the wiring harness back to the control module. Check for chafed wires or breaks.

  4. Use a multimeter to test the resistance (Ohms) of the solenoid on Valve 7 and compare it to a known good valve (e.g., Valve 6) to see if the coil has failed open or shorted.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the rear remote valve stack to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

  3. Reseat Connections

Disconnect the electrical plug for Valve 7. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and firmly reseat the connector.

  4. Replace the Solenoid/Valve (If faulty)

If the solenoid failed the multimeter test, unbolt the faulty solenoid from the valve slice and install the replacement. If the mechanical spool itself is binding internally, the entire valve slice (Valve 7) must be unbolted from the stack and replaced.

  5. Reassemble and Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery. Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.73.25 DTC from the system.

  6. Test Operation

Start the tractor and actuate the 7th remote to ensure proper hydraulic flow and verify the code does not return.
