Massey Ferguson A.80.13 – Hydraulic Control Module / Electronic Hitch/Remote (EHR) controller: External Hydraulic Valve 8 Issue

Malfunction in the circuit or mechanical operation of the 8th external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve). The underlying condition is typically an electrical fault (such as an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power at the valve's solenoid) or a mechanical/hydraulic restriction (such as a stuck spool, blocked coupler, or contaminated oil preventing the valve from actuating properly).

   Check the hydraulic and transmission oil level and inspect the hydraulic oil filter for blockages or dirty oil.

   Inspect the electrical harness leading to the external hydraulic valve 8 solenoid for rub points, frayed wires, or disconnected plugs.

   Use a multimeter to check the solenoid connector for proper voltage, test the solenoid coil resistance for open or short circuits, and verify ground integrity.

   Check the hydraulic couplers for damage or blockages, and ensure the spool valve is not physically stuck due to debris or internal wear.

   Depressurize the System

   Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic remote levers/buttons to relieve all residual hydraulic pressure in the system.

   Locate the Valve

   Identify External Hydraulic Valve 8 on the rear remote valve stack.

   Disconnect Electricals

   Unplug the wiring harness connector from the affected valve's solenoid.

   Remove the Solenoid/Valve

   If replacing the solenoid coil: Remove the retaining nut at the end of the valve stem and slide the old coil off. If replacing the entire spool/cartridge: Unbolt the valve section from the hydraulic stack (have a catch pan ready, as hydraulic fluid will spill).

   Clean and Prep

   Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Install New Parts

   Slide the new solenoid coil onto the stem and secure it, or bolt the new valve section into the stack using new O-rings/bonded seals.

   Reconnect and Test

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Start the tractor, top up the hydraulic fluid as needed, and test the remote valve with an implement to ensure the fault code clears and full pressure/flow is restored.
