Check the cause
Verify the hydraulic oil level and check for contamination or degraded fluid, which can cause spool valves to stick.
Inspect External Hydraulic Valve 8 at the rear remote block for visible leaks, physical damage, or loose fittings.
Check the wiring harness and electrical connector going to the Valve 8 solenoid for corrosion, broken wires, or loose pins.
Test the solenoid coil resistance with a multimeter and verify that the controller is sending the correct voltage to the valve when actuated from the cab.
Check if the spool valve is mechanically stuck due to internal drag or debris.
Repair steps
Make the Machine Safe
Lower all implements to the ground, turn off the engine, and actuate the hydraulic levers/controls to relieve all residual hydraulic system pressure.
Disconnect Electricals
Unplug the wiring harness connector from the Valve 8 solenoid.
Remove Hydraulic Lines
Disconnect the hydraulic hoses/lines attached to the valve. Cap all open lines and ports immediately to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.
Dismount the Valve
Unbolt the external hydraulic valve assembly from the rear hydraulic block.
Rebuild or Replace
To Rebuild: Remove the side covers/screws, extract the spool, and replace all internal O-rings and seals using an OEM spool valve repair kit. Clean all components thoroughly before reassembly. To Replace: Mount the new complete hydraulic valve assembly to the block.
Reassembly
Reconnect the hydraulic lines and plug in the electrical connector.
Test and Clear
Top off the hydraulic fluid if any was lost. Start the tractor, bleed the system by cycling the remote, check for leaks, and use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.80.20 DTC.
