Check the cause

  1. Navigate to the hydraulics page on the Datatronic 5 terminal to verify the flow settings and status of Valve 8

  2. Inspect the wiring harness, diagnostics connector, and the electrical connection to the electrohydraulic unit (solenoid valve) on the Valve 8 assembly

  3. Verify that the 3-way pressure relief valve block is supplying the correct pilot pressure (21 to 24 bar) required to move the spool

  4. Check the displacement sensor and the ON-OFF solenoid valve located on the end plate of the valve block for physical damage or electrical shorts

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Turn off the tractor and actuate the hydraulic levers/controls to relieve any residual pressure in the hydraulic system.

  2. Access the Valve Block

Locate the auxiliary spool valve distribution block (typically mounted at the rear on the lift cover or hydraulic manifold).

  3. Disconnect Electricals

Unplug the wiring harness from the digital electronic system and the solenoid valve specific to Valve 8.

  4. Remove the Valve

Remove the securing bolts that hold the Valve 8 assembly to the base plate or distribution block. Carefully detach the valve, ensuring the standpipe or pilot tubes are not dislodged from their seats.

  5. Replace Components

Depending on the diagnostic results, replace the faulty ON-OFF solenoid, the pilot valve, or the entire electrohydraulic spool valve assembly.

  6. Reinstall

Fit the new valve or solenoid to the base plate. Ensure all O-rings and gaskets are correctly seated to prevent internal pressure leaks. Secure the assembly with the mounting bolts.

  7. Clear Codes

Reconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical harnesses. Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.80.24 DTC from the system.
