Check the cause

  1. Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to confirm the code is active and check for any secondary codes related to hydraulic pressure or CAN bus communication.

  2. Inspect External Hydraulic Valve 8 at the rear remote block for physical damage, severe fluid leaks, or loose mounting bolts.

  3. Disconnect the wiring harness at the valve solenoid. Check the connector for dirt, moisture, or bent pins. Test the wiring for continuity and verify that the solenoid is receiving the correct voltage when actuated from the cab.

  4. Verify that the tractor's hydraulic fluid is at the correct level and free of heavy contamination, which can cause valve spools to stick.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Lower all attached implements to the ground. Turn off the engine and cycle the hydraulic control levers/switches in the cab to relieve all residual hydraulic pressure in the system.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the rear hydraulic block around Valve 8 to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during removal.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical connector from the faulty hydraulic valve solenoid.

  4. Remove the Valve

Remove the mounting bolts securing the valve to the hydraulic block or lift cover. Carefully pull the valve away.

  5. Prep for Installation

Discard the old O-rings. Clean the mating surface on the hydraulic block.

  6. Install New Parts

Lubricate the new O-rings with clean hydraulic fluid and place them into the recesses of the new valve. Mount the new valve and torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specification.

  7. Reconnect and Test

Reconnect the electrical harness. Start the tractor, top up the hydraulic fluid if necessary, and check for leaks.

  8. Clear Codes

Use the diagnostic tool to clear code 0A.81.25 and actuate the valve to ensure proper operation.
