Check the cause

  1. Verify the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) level and condition (check for dark, smells burnt, or looks milky indicating water contamination)

  2. Inspect the wiring connector and harness at External Valve 8 on the hydraulic block for corrosion, frayed wires, or loose connections

  3. Use a hydraulic gauge to test the system pressure to ensure the issue is isolated to Valve 8 and not a symptom of a failing hydraulic pump or a relief valve that is set too low

  4. Check for a partially blocked hydraulic filter, which can restrict flow to the system and cause valve actuation issues

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Turn the tractor off and actuate the hydraulic levers/controls to relieve any residual pressure in the system before wrenching.

  2. Address Fluid Contamination

If the diagnostic check revealed degraded fluid, drain the hydraulic fluid, flush the system, and replace the hydraulic filter.

  3. Repair Wiring/Connector

If the harness is damaged, repair the wiring or replace the pigtail connector going to Valve 8.

  4. Replace the Valve/Solenoid

If the wiring is intact and the fluid is clean, the solenoid or the valve itself has failed. Disconnect the hydraulic lines to Valve 8 (cap them to prevent contamination). Unbolt the faulty external hydraulic valve from the hydraulic block manifold.

  5. Install New Valve

Mount the replacement valve, torque the mounting bolts to OEM spec, and reconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical harness.

  6. Refill and Test

Refill the system with fresh OEM UTTO fluid (e.g., 10W40 hydraulic tractor fluid). Start the tractor, allow the system to warm up, and test the remote connection. Use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the DTC.
